Just Remember

All of us, whether hedonistically or ascetically, are searching for happiness. But few to none of us realize that happiness is ultimately unattainable.

An imaginary vision of a place where there is no pain- that is what most of us view as happiness. It's almost impossible to picture this haven as a place filled with tears, screams, messes, migraines, and heartbreaks. This is because happiness does not reside in the future, or even the present. Happiness can only truly exist in the past. It's not until days to years later when we can look back on those tears and heartbreaks with a smile on our naïve faces.

While we are experiencing the pains and frustrations of everyday life, it is impossible to keep our minds from wandering.  We dream of what it would be like if that one job, that one boss, that one problem, that one assignment, that one person was out of our life. When we turn around in 3 years and look back at those times, we can't help but laugh with a nostalgic urge to be that young, that naïve, that innocent, and have that many less problems than we do now when in fact, we have the same amount considering the "problems" that we have in our lives are the ones we make for ourselves.

It is damn near impossible to take ourselves now and put ourselves in the mindset we would have in the future. It is almost unbearable to enjoy the little inconveniences until we actually are older. So, until then, day dream, reminisce, and make believe happy moments. And most of all, never forget your memories.
